Baseline started because our founders realised that there was a huge issue with the system in place for home maintenance. Everyday homeowners are often not educated nor trained on the regular maintenance of their home. Even if they were, most homeowners don’t have the time to perform the maintenance required. This leads to reactive repairs, decreases in safety, comfort & efficiency and worse-yet; significant, costly damage. The way to solve this is to focus on routine maintenance. In the past, homeowners only had 2 choices for routine maintenance.
1) They can self train and self perform. This is the cheapest option, but it takes a lot of time to perform all the necessary maintenance, and learn how to perform it in the first place. Even if the homeowner is highly capable and has the time to learn, they still risk causing damage due to a lack of experience, AND they may not know who to call if something goes wrong.
2) The homeowner can call individual contractors for each trade and get experts to handle the maintenance. This reduces the amount of time the homeowner needs to spend on maintenance and reduces the potential harm of damage. However, the drawback is obvious: cost.
