Not heating at all. Bake or broil elements on electric ovens, igniters on gas ovens. Igniters are the single most common gas oven failure — they weaken over time and eventually can't open the gas valve.

Uneven baking, or burning on one side. Usually a failed element, a convection fan that's stopped, or a temperature sensor reading wrong.

Won't hold temperature. Temperature sensors, thermostats or control boards.

Door won't close or seal. Hinges and door seals. A poor seal costs you heat, time and accuracy on everything you bake.

Self-clean cycle failed and now nothing works. Self-clean runs extremely hot and commonly takes out a thermal fuse or control board. It's a frequent call after the holidays.

Gas burner won't light, or clicks constantly. Spark igniters, burner caps seated wrong, or blocked burner ports. Often fixable without parts.

Electric element won't heat. Elements, element receptacles or the infinite switch behind the control knob.

Induction zone not recognizing pans. Control board or coil fault.

Knobs or controls unresponsive. Control boards and touch panels.

If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility before calling anyone else. Don't operate switches. We'd rather lose a job than have someone take a risk.
