Furnace Repair in Salt Lake City

Furnaces fail on the coldest night of the year. It isn't bad luck — it's the first hard run of the season finding the weak part.

We diagnose the problem first and give you an up-front price before any work begins. The diagnostic is $99, and it comes off your repair cost if you go ahead.

Common furnace problems we repair

Blowing cold air. The blower runs but there's no heat. Usually an igniter, a dirty flame sensor, or a gas valve fault.

Won't start at all. Thermostats, control boards, limit switches, or a tripped safety.

Starts then shuts off after a minute or two. Short cycling. Commonly a dirty flame sensor or a blocked flue, and sometimes a badly oversized system. The flame sensor is a cheap, quick fix.

Loud bang on start-up. Delayed ignition — gas building up before it lights. Worth looking at promptly rather than living with.

Blower runs constantly. Fan limit switch or thermostat wiring.

Weak airflow. Usually a filter nobody has changed in a while. Sometimes a failing blower motor or capacitor.

Why flame sensors cause so many calls

A flame sensor confirms the burner has lit. Over a season it builds up a film of residue, stops detecting the flame, and shuts the furnace down as a safety measure. The furnace isn't broken — it just can't see itself working.

It's one of the most common and least expensive furnace repairs we do.

Before you call

Check the filter. A clogged filter restricts airflow and causes a surprising share of heating complaints. If it's grey and matted, replace it and see whether that fixes things.

Check the thermostat. Batteries, and that it's set to heat.

Check the furnace switch. It looks like a light switch, usually near the unit, and it gets knocked off more often than you'd think.

If those are all fine, call us.

Brands and systems we service

We service and repair all mainstream furnace brands, and we install Goodman, Rheem and Carrier systems. Gas and electric, standard and high-efficiency.
