Water dripping from the indoor head. The most common call. Usually a blocked condensate drain, a unit that wasn't pitched correctly at install, or a failed condensate pump.

Not cooling or heating properly. Low refrigerant from a leak, often at the line-set flare connections, or a dirty indoor coil.

Error codes on the display. Mini-splits report faults in code, and the codes vary by manufacturer. We read them but still diagnose by hand.

Communication errors on multi-zone systems. Control wiring or board faults between the outdoor unit and the indoor heads.

One zone works, another doesn't. Usually that head's own components rather than the whole system.

Outdoor unit not running. Capacitors, contactors, boards.

A mini-split head pulls air across a coil in the room itself. Over time that coil collects dust, and in a bedroom or an office it collects it faster than you'd think.

A dirty coil reduces output, raises running costs, and is a common cause of a system that "isn't as good as it used to be."

If water is dripping from an indoor head, switch that zone off and put a towel down. Running it makes the leak worse and risks damaging the wall beneath.

If there's an error code on the display or the remote, write it down — it narrows the diagnosis considerably.
